Authentic. Genuine. Sincere. Honest.Ā Rather than write a book on leadership that reads like a "how-to" manual or "assembly instruction", Rick takes on a life-journey of leadership. He weaves the critical aspects of leadership - integrity, character, credibility, trust, wisdom into the stories that forged his life. Rick doesn't just tell us how to be good leaders, he shows us the way and then guides us along the path. And, he doesn't pretend to be the perfect, lawless leader. He walks us through his own struggles and challenges as a leader. Well worth the read!"

"This is a truly well written book on leadership. Although the stories are firefighter related, the leadership lessons and examples are applicable to any workforce. This is a perfect book for any fire officer development course.
The book is very easy to read, down to earth, and full of stories of that are entertaining, humbling, and honest. This book will make you reflect on your own attributes and leadership style. I highly recommend to anyone that is aspiring to be a leader or is already in a leadership role."
