Today, let God speak to you about the importance of His Word—through His Word. Pray that as you read, the Holy Spirit will renew your love for scripture and your desire to hear from God through the Bible.

For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12, NIV)

Jesus answered, “It is written: `Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ” (Matthew 4:4, NIV)

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.(Psalm 119:11,103,105, NIV)

“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.(Isaiah 55:10-11, NIV)
