Visa and Mastercard are rolling out cutting-edge tools—Intelligent Commerce and Agent Pay—designed to let artificial intelligence manage your spending. These systems can browse, compare, and complete purchases entirely on your behalf.
Sounds like progress, right?
But here’s the question no one’s asking: Can a machine truly understand the meaning behind the money? Can it grasp your mission? Your legacy? The things that actually define your life and leadership?
I don’t think so. And I believe leaders, authors, and values-driven entrepreneurs need to pause and ask: Are we handing off more than convenience? Are we surrendering intent?
At Leadership Books, we work with authors and leaders who aren’t just trying to publish a book—they’re trying to create lasting influence. That kind of leadership requires discernment, not just data.
The way you spend, save, invest, and give isn't just about numbers. It's a reflection of your values. It shapes your character, your relationships, your reach, and your message. Financial choices are often mission choices.
And AI—no matter how advanced—doesn’t understand that.
It doesn't know when to hold back for something more meaningful. It doesn't understand when to invest in a cause that won’t show ROI on a spreadsheet. And it certainly doesn’t comprehend sacrifice, intuition, or calling.
When you let AI take the wheel of your financial life, you risk losing more than oversight. You lose connection to why you're making those decisions in the first place.
Of course not.
That’s not a software flaw—it’s a fundamental gap in understanding what it means to live with mission and build legacy.
We live in a world obsessed with optimization. But legacy isn’t built through shortcuts. It’s built through intentional, sometimes inconvenient, decision-making.
We’ve seen the same in publishing. The explosion of self-publishing gave more people access, but not always impact. At Leadership Books, we specialize in legacy publishing because our authors are doing more than printing paper—they’re turning stories into movements.
That requires the author to be involved at every level: from crafting their voice to deciding how their resources are used. No one automates their way into significance.
AI-powered finance is also deeply unregulated. Developers and corporations are moving fast—but without a shared moral framework.
Here’s a truth from life in Nevada: The machine always favors the house.
When you let an algorithm decide where your money goes, you may not be the one it’s designed to serve. And when mission-driven people hand over control, we risk becoming consumers instead of creators.
That’s not a world I want to lead in—or leave behind.
I'm not suggesting we run from innovation. Automation has its place—especially for routine tasks like saving, debt management, or tracking expenses.
But we must draw a clear line between tools that support our mission and systems that replace our stewardship.
Because at the end of the day, your money is a tool for impact. And impact requires involvement.
Leadership today requires more than adapting to trends—it requires knowing when to push back.
Before you let AI manage your finances, ask yourself:
Does this support my long-term mission, or replace my responsibility to lead it?
That’s a question every author, speaker, entrepreneur, and change agent needs to wrestle with. Because AI doesn’t understand purpose. It doesn’t understand calling. And it doesn’t understand the kind of legacy you’re here to leave.
But you do.
So stay in the conversation. Stay in control. And lead with the kind of wisdom no machine can replicate.
