Most Christians know Paul's words about the armor of God, and many even display them as a reminder of God's protection. Yet these verses are often treated like a spiritual charm-repeated, admired, but rarely acted upon. In truth, they are a call to arms-a summons to engage with the spiritual reality that surrounds us.

But how do we gain true understanding of the unseen world? Whose interpretation can we trust?

In The Battle Rages On, Dr. Gerald Robison brings the Bible to life in a unique way: through a conversation between an ordinary believer and Jesus Himself. What unfolds is a powerful exchange that tackles some of the hardest questions:

  • Why does God allow evil?
  • How did it all begin?
  • Why does Satan wage war against us?
  • How can we truly stand strong?

With wisdom drawn from both familiar Bible stories and long-overlooked passages, this book reveals a fuller picture of the spiritual realm-and why it matters for your everyday life.

You'll never read your Bible the same way again. As you turn the pages, expect your understanding to deepen, your faith to grow, and your eyes to open to the reality that the battle is not over... The Battle Rages On.

    REVIEW

Dr. Gerald D. Robison’s The Battle Rages On… is a theological exploration of spiritual warfare, framed as an imagined exchange of letters between a modern Adam and Jesus. The book moves from “before the beginning” through creation, rebellion, the divine council, demons, magic, miracles, the armor of God, Colossians, the battles to come, the crucifixion, and finally Judas. Its central concern is not merely whether unseen spiritual realities exist, but how those realities shape human faith, suffering, obedience, temptation, and hope.

I found the book most compelling when it let wonder do the heavy lifting. Robison’s opening meditations on God’s self-sufficiency, goodness, and creative desire have a devotional warmth that pulled me in, especially when he insists that creation was not born from divine lack but from abundance. That idea gives the book its emotional center. I also appreciated the way he returns again and again to goodness as something more than a moral category. In his hands, goodness becomes personal, radiant, and demanding. The recurring phrase “there’s nothing gooder than God” is intentionally plainspoken, even playful, but it lands because the surrounding argument is earnest. The book’s best passages have the feel of a teacher leaning across the table, trying not just to instruct but to awaken.

Robison is at his strongest when he is clarifying familiar biblical ideas in fresh language, such as the preparation of the gospel of peace in the armor of God or the warning that temptation begins in the inner life long before it becomes visible action. His treatment of Judas, with its attention to money, betrayal, Satanic influence, and the danger of entertained thoughts, felt sobering and human. Some of the more speculative material, particularly the Watchers, Nephilim, divine council, and territorial spiritual powers, asks the reader to follow him into contested theological ground. I admired the intellectual courage and the imaginative coherence. The letter format makes difficult material accessible, though it can also soften the tension between interpretation and assertion, especially when Jesus is written as the answering voice.

The Battle Rages On… is a searching and deeply invested work, one that wants readers to take the unseen realm seriously without losing sight of Christ’s victory and presence. I came away feeling that its greatest value is in urging believers to read Scripture with renewed attentiveness and spiritual seriousness. This book would be especially good for Christian readers who are curious about spiritual warfare, the supernatural worldview of the Bible, and the deeper architecture beneath familiar passages, particularly those willing to engage both devotionally and critically.
