If you have these three elements in your life, then you’re OK.
This is what God told me, recently, when I was having a situation that was bringing worry, anxiety, and fear.
He revealed to me these three extremely important elements that we need to have.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:6-8
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5
The enemy is pounding in our mind at almost every moment with ugly, discouraging, destructive, ungodly thoughts – thoughts that are contrary to the Word of God. His purpose is to make strongholds that will control us and imprison us in our own mind.
What controls our mind, controls our life!
Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. Romans 1:28
Our mind needs the helmet of salvation now more than ever. We need to learn to replace our thoughts for God’s through His Word. This means to study, meditate, confess, and memorize the Word of God daily. If we refuse to do this, then we allow ungodly, lying, and deceptive thoughts to reside in our mind and control us.
By reading the Word, I find out who God is, His character, and His love and compassion for the lost.
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1 John 4:8-10
Love is the very nature of God. His heart is full of compassion. A forgiving heart. His love for the lost is evident in His word.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
God doesn’t want ANYONE to perish, but for us ALL to have eternal life. He is a forgiving God.
But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. Psalm 86:15
The process of renewing our mind, creates in us a heart that’s merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness – like the heart of God.
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. Proverbs 23:7
To have the heart of God, is to be full of compassion, to love not just one another, but to love the lost. Our great commission is not just to grow in numbers, but to make disciples – teaching them the word of God. This is what it means to be catcher of men. This is the heart of God- souls!
Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” John 3:5-8
We need to be born again (receive the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ) for the Spirit of God to come upon us to fill us.
Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4
These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14:25-26
The Holy Spirit develops our character!
John the Baptist said: I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. Matthew 3:11
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
Jesus commanded us to make DISCIPLES by teaching his word, and he also promised to be with us while we are doing this. He ascended to heaven but didn’t leave us as orphans. He left us the Holy Spirit, and the purpose of this, according to the scriptures, is to be equipped to have boldness, power, and fire to share the gospel – the good news and bring souls to the Kingdom of God.
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4
To be filled with the Holy Spirit means to be equipped, to be ready. For the apostles, it was extremely important that those who received the word of God were also filled with the Holy spirit.
Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John, who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit, for he had not yet fallen on any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit. Acts 8:14-17
God sent Ananias to lay hands on Saul, so he could receive his sight and be filled with the Holy spirit.
So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 9:17
The Holy Spirit teaches and reminds us of all things. He gives us understanding of the scriptures. He revels to us all truth and even things to come. He strengthens us and gives us boldness. He is the “Helper” we need here on earth.
I want all of what God has for me. I have experienced the power, boldness, and fire that the baptism of the Holy Spirit- with the evidence of speaking in tongues, has given me. I don’t only ask the Holy spirit to help me, but I pray, speak, and always sing in the spirit – especially when I’m in a battle in my life.
Renewing our mind through the word of God, gives us the heart of God, but we need the Holy Spirit to give us the wisdom and understanding of the scriptures, and then we see the fruits of the Spirit in us. One of those fruits of the Spirit is LOVE!
It all comes back to love which is the heart of God. We are saved, redeemed, blessed, healed, and sanctified because of God’s love for us, His children.
I pray this blesses you and encourages your faith, as it did to me. It refreshed my heart and my soul to know that:
1- I have to renew my mind daily with the word of God.
2- I’m commanded to bring souls into the kingdom of God.
3- I am equipped, filled with boldness, power, and fire.
