A Travel Guide to Christian Faith has three components. The Before You Go booklet gives first-time seekers an easy-to-understand synopsis of the Christian faith. If they wish to learn more, The Traveler's Edition serves as a student workbook, while the Tour Leader is used by the instructor.
Tour Leader is intended for pastors and lay leaders who will guide the new Christian into baptism and discipleship. At the same time the leader is reading this book, the student will be reading the Traveler's Edition (sold separately). This book will guide the leader along as the student learns and grows in faith.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Rev. Dr. Dawn Darwin Weaks heard her calling to ministry at youth camp. She pursued God's call as she received her B.A. from Baylor University, her M. Div. from Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University, and her D.Min. from St. Paul School of Theology. She was ordained in the Southern Baptist church and served as an associate minister in that denomination before becoming a Disciples of Christ minister in 1999. She pastored churches in Miami, Texas, in Rowlett, Texas, where she was a Bethany Fellow, and in Raytown, Missouri. She is now the co-pastor of Connection Christian Church in Odessa, Texas, with her husband, Rev. Dr. Joe Weaks. Dawn is a frequent keynoter at events nationwide, and you can find her writing published in a variety of venues. Currently, she is writing about how adults with no church background hear sermons. Dawn has three passions: her family, her relationship with God, and helping others hear and live out the calling God gives to them.
REVIEWS:
"Dawn Weaks' holistic approach gives attention to discernment, conversion, formation, and discipleship. This is the kind of tool we ve all been waiting for, one that truly addresses the reality we face every day in our congregations. If you are looking for a progressive alternative to the Alpha series, this is the one."

"Introducing the gospel is tricky business for most Christians. Often we end up as noisy gongs or clanging cymbals as we try to tell our story and the larger story of the Christian faith to our friends. Dawn Weaks' A Traveler s Guide to Christian Faith is so inviting, so intriguing, it can help Christians share the gospel as the good news that it is."
Keith D. Herron, senior pastor, Holmeswood Baptist Church, Kansas City, Missouri
