Just Refuse to Shut Up!

Just Refuse to Shut Up!

There was a time when radical secularists, with their various causes, simply wanted to be accepted in society. That was then, and this is now. These days, it is not enough for them to just be accepted, they want to literally dominate society to the extent that anyone who disagrees with them are shut up and vilified. And they have had a lot of success doing that.

  • Did you know that the Hawaii Health Department now trains their future therapists to conceal conversations with homosexual youth from their parents?
  • Are you aware that there is a currently working California preschool teacher who is adamant and vocal that toddlers should be taught queerness and sexuality in the classroom?
  • Then there is the homosexual man who has filed a lawsuit against a Christian seminary because they refused him admission. His purpose is to destroy any religious exemption for schools that hold true to biblical teaching.
  • And what about the worldā€™s largest mental health and behavioral science magazine, Psychology Today, publishing an article defending and encouraging nonmonogamous relationships.

And these are only a very small sampling of the attacks on decency, fairness, the Christian faith, and even reality itself that are currently going on in American society. These people are bound and determined to destroy a biblical view of morality for the purpose of them not having any kind of accountability to anyone concerning their sin.

And truthfully, that is the bottom line ā€“ these radicals want to be morally autonomous, totally and completely. They believe that if they can shout down Christians in order to keep them from speaking the truth about what God has revealed about morality, that somehow they will be exempt from the consequences of their sin.

On an eternal level, their efforts are totally meaningless. Try as they may, they canā€™t shut God up, and they will reap the eternal consequences of their sin. God is simply not subject to their demands.

But the consequences of their sin are not just seen in the spiritual arena where God is the judge. It also has an effect on the society we all have to live in.

What are the consequences of the actions of the Hawaii Health Department? Not only does it lead individual children down a road to destruction, but also serves to destroy the nuclear family. What could possibly go wrong with that?

What are the consequences of teaching toddlers perverted sex in the classroom? Children who have no idea how to process that kind of information will not only be groomed to become sex objects to perverted adults, but will also become totally confused regarding who they are as human individuals.

What are the consequences of the guy winning his lawsuit against the Christian seminary? The result will be destruction of the right to freedom of conscience, and the obliteration of liberty itself.

And what are the consequences of the normalization of nonmonogamous relationships? The consequences are the destruction of the nuclear family, which is the very foundation of society itself.

When it comes to how individuals want to act for their own lives, that is between them and God. He can take care of Himself, and He will. God will judge each person according to their own deeds.

But when it comes to those individuals promoting values and actions that destroy society, we get dragged into the fight. It puts Christians into a position of having to personally accept, and even support, immorality. And as Christians, we have an obligation to push back against it.

God has made human beings His stewards over the earth. We are responsible for taking care of His creation. Many people think of this only in terms of our stewardship over nature. Well, of course we have responsibilities there as well, and Christians should be out in front in the area of environmental conservation (based, of course, on the teachings of Scripture, not on the values of radical environmentalists who have no interest in accomplishing Godā€™s purpose for this world). But we also must be stewards of the society that He has entrusted us with. Allowing the normalization of sin destroys individuals, families, and society itself.

The radical secularists want us to just sit down and shut up. As Christians, we just canā€™t do that! We must not think and act in ways that go against Godā€™s teachings in Scripture, but we must also not wimp out when it comes to overt actions. We must refuse to shut up, and be bold about sharing the gospel message and the moral expressions that emerge out of it. And we must do it in every arena we find ourselves in ā€“ family, the media, education, arts and entertainment, government, business, and in our churches. Anything less is abdicating our responsibility before God.
