An Easy Way to Save and Give
By Mike Stickler
Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.
Some of the larger banks these days have ‘save as you go’ programs. Basically, they round up every ATM or credit card charge, depositing that extra amount in your savings account. It amounts to a few cents here and there with each transaction. Yet, if left alone, it can add up.
Here’s an idea. Why not sign up for one of this type of account and dedicate this extra money to just one ministry that could make a difference?
Personally, I like World Vision’s child sponsorship program. When you sponsor a child with World Vision, it’s not just one child that gets sponsored; your small contribution goes toward an investment into his or her family, even to include the child’s entire village. Your sponsorship helps cover items like clean water, nutritious meals, formal education, and includes health care into your sponsored child’s village!
Plus, if you have your monthly child sponsorship deducted from the savings account, it becomes a simple way to make a difference in a child’s life on a daily basis.
Investigate with your current bank to see if they have the type of program described here. Though it may be named differently, so ask your account manager. If not, generally the larger banks have a similar program.
Once you do, go to worldvision.org and search for a child to sponsor. Caution: You’ll want to sponsor several by the time you’re done reviewing their website filled with children. I challenge you to say “no!”
Tell us about your child below.
