There have been some amazing scientific discoveries over the last several years – none more breathtaking than what is happening in the field of evolutionary biology as it relates to the origin of life. Friends, we are, obviously, on the cusp of knowing everything there is to know about life. One day there will be nothing scientists do not know about the origin and evolution of all life, right?
Did you know that scientists have now simulated the formation of fatty acids? This is a key component in the assembly of Earth’s first cells and offers insights to the earliest moments of life on our fair planet – and on other planets, as well.
Of course, the exact location of this emergence is still unclear, but it may have happened around deep-sea hydrothermal vents. These places contain the various chemicals and metals, along with the energy necessary to drive the synthesis of relevant organic molecules. Even though this has never been demonstrated to actually create any life, scientists are excited that they have come up with another theory that allows them to speculate in a new direction.
But that’s not all, scientists have also just made a 1.75 billion-year-old discovery about the origin of life. Of course, they acknowledge that the origins of life on Earth are still mysterious, but they have taken another step – and we all know that every new step is fantastic.
In a stunning new study, scientists have found inside some fossilized bacteria, the oldest direct evidence of oxygenic photosynthetic structures – some that are capable of turning sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into energy and oxygen. These structures represent a key process in helping life along by pumping the atmosphere full of oxygen during what is knows as the Great Oxygenation Event (GOE). Amazingly, these structures operate pretty much the same as modern day plants, so not much has really change. But that is of no consequence. Of course, many questions still remain, including whether oxygen-making photosynthesis evolved before, around the same time, or after the GOE.
But it doesn’t matter. This is one more piece of the puzzle to help scientists speculate about the naturalistic origin of life on our dear planet.
But there are real life evolutionary implications to all this, as well. These implications apply not only to what happens on our own planet, but on other planets, as well.
For instance, other planets, way out in the cosmos, may be real-life “Jurassic Worlds.” There may be planets with dinosaurs out there. According to an article in the Royal Astronomical Society Journal, researchers on earth, in the future, could possibly detect such life by searching for compounds that are not currently present on Earth, but were during the age of dinosaurs. We have a record of this because the dinosaurs kept meticulous records back before they became extinct.
Of course, no planet like that has ever been discovered, but this prospect does give us hope. If we find those planets with the right oxygen makeup, it will make the search for life a little bit easier. And who knows, we might just find dinosaurs.
But our evolutionary development is not all good news. A new study led by an evolutionary biologist at the University of Maine has concluded that the very traits humans evolved that have allowed us to dominate the globe, might prevent us from solving future global environmental threats.
He notes that over the centuries, humans have adapted to our environment by creating increasingly better technology. When a resource starts to run low, we tend to move on to the next resource-rich area and fight other humans over the scraps that remain. That evolutionary tendency predisposes us to fight one another rather than cooperate to find solutions. But at a certain point, cooperation might happen if people see that everyone benefits. But sadly in our world today, the size of the problem exceeds the size of the group trying to fix it. So we are doomed.
All I can say is SMH (Shake My Head). This way of thinking is exactly what a naturalistic evolutionary mindset leads to. Since naturalistic evolutionists believe the natural universe, operating by natural laws, is all that exists, they have to come up with natural explanations for everything. The only problem is, there is no science behind it. It is a conclusion born out of naturalistic philosophy, not science.
Since they actually believe this philosophy is true, they feel justified in speculating about all kinds of things that have no basis in anything but their fertile imaginations. And sadly, these false beliefs about evolution have consequences far beyond the speculations of academics. It leads people to spend hundreds of billions of dollars trying to find signs of life on other planets. It leads people to promote genocide to eliminate the weak members of society in order to help move the human species forward. It leads people to implement political policies that wreak havoc on societies by implementing laws that end up destroying order in society. And the list goes on.
Evolutionary theory is just that – a theory. And it is a theory that has no science to back it up. It is a false religious belief, and it is utterly destructive.
