Inoculating Student’s Souls

Inoculating Student’s Souls

Our young people are under moral attack by very powerful forces within American society that want to drag them down as much as possible. In places where those forces don’t have political dominance, advocates for evil moral beliefs have to resort to more subtle approaches to carry out their plans, but in places where they do have dominance they are influencing students in entire school districts.

As an example, the Arts & Technology Academy in the Eugene (Oregon) School District 4J had their students celebrate “Pride Spirit Week” in 2025 using a different theme each day to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. You can read an article about this at https://www.foxnews.com/media/oregon-middle-school-hosts-drag-day-encouraging-students-cross-dress-during-pride-week.print.

Here was their schedule for the week.

  • Monday - Students were encouraged to “wear as many colors as they could” for “Rainbow-Out” day.
  • Tuesday - Students were encouraged to wear all black “in remembrance of lost members of the LGBTQIA+ community.”
  • Wednesday was “Drag Day” when students were told to “dress like a drag queen/king/monarch, or dress up as a different gender.”
  • Thursday was “Queer Hero Day,” and students were encouraged to pick their favorite “queer hero.”
  • Friday was designated “Pride Flag Friday,” and students were told to “dress up as the pride flag of their choice.”

While Oregon is one of the places that has strongly promoted pro gender identity policies, it is far from the only one. This kind of advocacy is being promoted in many places throughout the entire nation, and it is the children under the influence of these apologists who are, and will be for years to come, paying the price.

Oregon, in particular, has in place state laws that require schools to notify parents when the topic of human sexuality is going to be taught to the school children. In this case, however, the school didn’t send out a notification about their plans until after they had already been initiated. The school’s excuse for not issuing the notification was that, “Most of the lessons and activities were not considered part of formal instruction on human sexuality.” Rather, they were simply meant to “show support for LGBTQ+ students and their families, and cultivate an inclusive climate.”

The only problem is, in the process of showing support for LGBTQ+ students and their families, and cultivating an inclusive climate, they showed a total disregard for those who don’t agree with that moral point of view. In other words, under the banner of fairness, they were being blatantly unfair to an entire segment of the population. They were literally picking moral winners and losers in the classroom.

It is much easier to push back against this in regions of the country where biblical morality is still respected. In those places, elected officials can implement policies where the topic of human sexuality is not something that dominates the school curriculum. But even in those places, the way the topic is dealt with is still often approached using a relativistic approach to morality. Secular education is just geared that way.

For Christian parents who do not believe relativistic morality is right, and is actually bad for their children, there needs to be a way to counteract that non-Christian approach – and there is. That push-back, however, has to be done in a way that actually addresses the problem, not just shouts it down. Christians should definitely push back against schools promoting sexual immorality in the school curriculum and programming as much as possible, but actually helping the children learn what is right has to be the focus. A simple anti-gay tirade is not sufficient.

To actually innoculate the souls of the children against this immorality will require a concerted effort by both parents and the church, with a focus on reasons why the Christian view is true and right, rather than merely telling the children what is right and wrong. Without the “why” component, the children are not inoculated. Without the “why” being addressed, the very definition of morality is left to others (like the secularists who lead the school system).

The way to get around that is to teach the young people worldview principles. They not only need to know what Christians believe and why that is true, but also what other people believe and why it is not true. To do that requires a kind of training that shows them how to compare and contrast biblical beliefs with other beliefs – worldview training.

Without the ability to make that comparison, all you have is people on different sides all claiming that what they believe is true, and what other people believe is not true – without any reason for their claims. That kind of prescriptive teaching is weak and ineffective. It is that kind of teaching that is the root of why up to 90% of young people leave the Christian faith when they leave home. Don’t let that happen to your students. Inoculate them properly!
