What does it mean to be "getting closer to God"?

In this second installment in the Anthologies trilogy, we will take up this authentic quest, and learn to keep moving. Some of these lessons were hard fought and bitterly contested.

Getting Closer to God is not for the faint of heart, neither the book, nor the journey.

At whatever cost, getting closer to Him is worthwhile, and I pray this book will help to provide some insight and perspective that will help you do just that.

It is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him.
Hebrews 11:6 NLT

This book contains lessons, insights and perspectives gleaned over 15 years of short-term mission work in places like Kenya, East Africa, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Haiti. The best way to get closer to God is to first realize that this is a possibility, then realize it’s worthwhile, and then to go for it!

Organized in bite size, self-contained thoughts, this book need not be read in order or in a linear progression. The spawn of deep immersion into foreign cultures, plus pain, plus the stretching of the worldview, this book will be perhaps confrontive to some of your well protected opinions.

Why not a “how to”, think of this book as a field guide of lessons learned in the most worthwhile of endeavors, knowing more and better the Creator! These secrets, like others, are hidden in plain sight. Many have been revealed on sleeping on floors, summiting mountains in Mexico, clean water projects in rural Africa, and in the milieu which is Mexico City.

As Mark Twain once famously quipped, the best way to get ahead is to get started, so here we go!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

N. Scott McClelland was raised in the relative obscurity of the rural forests of southeast Texas. He married, very young, his wife, Kathy, in 1988. Together, they have three adult daughters.

After meeting the Lord, in a dramatic way, at the age of sixteen, Scott began to be impacted by strong impressions from the scripture and prophetic experiences. It was during these early years that Scott began to extensively read and study leadership in earnest. For the first 15 years of faith, Scott was trained and mentored by Cleve Sharp, also of southeast Texas, before leaving the area of his home under the Lord‘s leadership.

With experience in associate pastoring, eldership, and prophetic ministry, Scott’s focus was turned to missions in his early 30s, when he began traveling abroad. It was during this time that he served in a missions program of a ministry school in the Charlotte North Carolina area where he served for four years. Throughout this time, Scott has maintained a contribution as a small business owner and entrepreneur.

Scott and Kathy live in Arlington, Texas and travel extensively for business, mission and family. To know more about Scott find more information at fxmissions.com, and international business group that he found it and directs, on his podcast leadersmoment.org, or send him an email at scott@fxmissions.com.
