Anti-Christian Shame in the Government

Anti-Christian Shame in the Government

Maybe it’s not such a shock that the transgender movement is becoming increasingly prominent in society. Over the years, It has not been unusual at all for the arts and entertainment industry, big business, the news media, and institutions of higher learning to push the envelope of social change. They have been doing it for years. We have seen it with the promotion of abortion, divorce, sexual immorality (one night stands, shacking up outside of marriage, adultery, polygamy, polyandry), gay marriage, doctor-assisted suicide, gambling, anti-fur activism, medical testing on animals, the death penalty, sex change, and we could go on. It seems that promoting transgenderism is just the latest social fad. But in some ways, the boldness and brashness of these social change revolutionaries is increasing.

In 2009, Michigan transgender activist Rachel Crandall Crocker felt there was not a proper recognition of transgender people, so in order to help them have a moment of happiness, he/she started International Transgender Day of Visibility and set it annually for March 31. Over the succeeding years, it has become more prominent. At first it was almost exclusively recognized among the homosexual and trans community, but in recent times has come to be recognized by non-gays who are of a more socially liberal persuasion.

It has progressed enough now to where some politicians even believe it is advantageous for them to promote it. Enter our president.

The truth is, President Biden has issued a proclamation on Transgender Day of Visibility every year from the beginning of his presidency in 2021. Even in those early years, there was some push back, but it was such an obscure event that it never got any real attention.

That changed this year when it happened to fall on Easter Sunday. Such a debauched proclamation on the single most important Christian holiday immediately rose to the top of the day’s news stories and caused a massive backlash.

But it didn’t stop there. Almost immediately the Department of Health and Human Services and the State Department issued their own proclamations advocating for that holiday.

In previous times, it is not even imaginable that something like this could happen. And it is even more fascinating that the president makes a huge deal about how he is such a faithful Catholic – even though his position concerning transgenderism is totally contrary to what his church teaches.

But what we need to understand is that Biden’s beliefs do not come out of Christianity. He may claim to be a Christian, but every person thinks and acts out of their actual worldview beliefs, and the beliefs of his thinking and acting are not Christian. A person isn’t a Christian who self-identifies as one, but who has had their life changed by their personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

If the president was truly a Christian, he wouldn’t believe what he does about transgenderism (and numerous other things, as well). Rather than seeing reality through a biblical lens, he sees it through a naturalistic one. If you pay attention to statements he makes and the policies he promotes, you will quickly come to the conclusion that they are actually based on a naturalistic worldview – the belief that the natural universe, operating by natural laws, is all that exists. Biblical teachings look at the morality taught in the Bible as a revelation from God. But that is not where his moral beliefs come from.

The president’s morality is, rather, based on a relativistic foundation that has no objective foundation at all. It represents the collective opinion and preferences of a segment of society that desires to have total moral autonomy. They don’t want to be constrained by biblical morality, so they, based on their own preferences, simply refuse to acknowledge them as real and make up their own. For them a man wanting to be a woman and a woman wanting to be a man is not the psychological illness that it actually is. They pretend this kind of change is actually possible, and go about life playing like it is true. But it’s not true.

In spite of that, the president is in a position where he is able to impose his false beliefs on the rest of the country – to a degree. But only to a degree. He can, perhaps, force us to be aware of the debauchery, but he can’t make us believe it is right. And Christians who are serious about their faith have the ultimate way to push back. We can become increasingly active in expressing the truth – the truth that people can have their lives changed by Jesus Christ.

From time to time throughout history, God has made His presence known in some very dramatic ways. And He can do it again. It is not up to us to change people’s lives. Only God can do that. But we can be His agents in the world by faithfully sharing the Good News of Christ, and allow God to reveal Himself to non-believers through our words and deeds. That is where real change can occur.

It is shameful what is happening in our government right now, but God will not be mocked. He will win in the end, and we should proudly stand on His side.
